Happy Birthday Johnny!!!!

I have a wonderful brother in Johnny. I want to wish him a very happy birthday. The picture below reminds me of just one of the special times we have spent together. We always wish there could be more. This picture is John and Cheryl with me in Norway. What a wonderful memory it has become.

It was a great day in 1967 when Johnny married Janis and she became a member of our family! Dad always said, "Janis, you are my favorite daughter-in-law!" And he meant it.

FFa was a big part of his youth and he won many ribbons with his livestock! It looks like fair time.

No can deny how cute this little boy is!!!! He was the "very loved" first grandchild born on the Peterson side of the family!!

1967 - the year LaRae got married!

Forty three years ago on February 10, Sam and LaRae got married. It was pretty exciting for us. LaRae was the first of all the cousins to get married.

I was 14 years old and a freshman in high school. Our bridesmaid dresses were made of green velvet. The four bridesmaids are Cheryl, Francie, Edith Jo, and Darlene.

A picture of the siblings: Johnny, LaRae, Cheryl and Francie

Sisters! I was so fortunate to have the best sisters in the world. They loved me and took very good care of me. I was always included in their activities and they made me feel special. Our age differences never made a difference in the closeness we shared and continue to share together.

My brother, Johnny What a great brother!

My sisters, LaRae and Cheryl What beautiful girls they are.

My Mother, Madeline Edith Peterson Oleson The Best Mother Ever!

In this picture I am being held by my Dad. I am three or four years old. I remember I got to be carried alot from the car to the house when I fell asleep on the way home. Being the youngest child I think they liked their baby!!!

The 1954's!!

Mom with her four children! Johnny, LaRae, Cheryl, and Francie. All of these pictures are taken at the farm at Emblem.

Cheryl, Francie, LaRae, and Johnny

September 15, 1954. It is my second birthday. We always had a big party in the evening of a birthday and all the aunts, uncles, and cousins would come to our house and join us for cake and ice cream. I will be pretty for the evening after the bobby pins come out and I am left with beautiful pin curls!!! The old brownie camera didn't have a flash attachment!

Jill took Grace and me for a treat at the Sugar Shack in Greybull. We enjoyed sharing a shake! This isn't the first shake we have shared... we do it every chance we get! Thanks Jill for another great memory!!!!

The photo spot

In our house there seems to be only one place to take a photo!! It is in the living room in front of the fireplace. It doesn't matter if it is summer or winter we sit or stand in the same spot when the camera comes out!! It doesn't speak well for the rest of the house. I think I'm going to make it my challenge to create more photogenic spots in other rooms of my house. Here Jill and I are having fun with the new jackets we got (will get for Valentine's day!) They arrived early as we don't know if we will be seeing Jill again before Feb. 14th. We had just gotten home from church, Grace went down for a nap and I decided I needed my photo of the day!!!

The Portrait

Ken and I had a portrait picture taken today at Pamida. When we got home we did a portrait of us with our granddaughter, Grace, in our living room. Ken picked up the dress for Grace for Valentine's Day and she just got it a couple of weeks early!! Yesterday, Jake put in our new doors upstairs. We removed all the old and brought in some solid pine doors. I still need to stain and finish them but I can already tell you they are beautiful!! Jake is so good to us and we love him. Our little Grace is talking alot!! She even strings together some three word phrases. She is just amazing!!!

Matthew

Monday will be Matt's birthday. He would be 24 years old. We miss him!!

We enjoyed going to Idaho to visit family. Here is a picture of our Matt with his Great Grandpa Clarence Hope.

Matt enjoying Jill and Megan as we spend time with the Pollocks over in Lovell.

Mother

Yesterday was my mother's birthday. The following picture was taken in April 1954. Mom is sitting on the top stair holding me. I am two years old. Cheryl is dead center on the bottom stair. Johnny is on the far right side in front of Grandma Peterson and beside Uncle Jay Peterson. LaRae is on the far left sitting next to Grandpa Peterson. Dad is in front of her. Mom loved her family and always enjoyed being with them. We had many opportunities to enjoy our grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins.

Winter Fun

Jill and Jake were skiing while Ken and I played with Grace. It it a true joy being grandparents. Grace's feet just did the happy dance when she saw us arrive in the ski lodge at Meadowlark Lake. We enjoyed the day and so did the kids... speaking of Jake, Jill and Grace. It is always fun to play.

Ken loved pulling Grace up the hill and then running down the hill with her. She didn't like getting out of the sled! She was having too much fun.

Grace loved sledding up at Meadow Lark ski resort above Ten Sleep
